Digital signage systems: what to actually
check before you choose.

Not every business needs the same system. Sometimes basic signage software is perfectly enough; sometimes it costs more in manual work than you saved on the licence. This page explains the difference honestly.

Digital signage screens in a chain store
Two kinds of systems

When it's enough, and when it isn't

Basic signage software is enough when:

  • You have a handful of screens in one location
  • Content changes rarely and is updated by hand
  • No prices or stock levels need to be exact on screen
  • There are no special information-security requirements

A system connected to your business data is needed when:

  • Prices and promotions must match the POS exactly
  • Several branches need both shared and local content
  • Electronic shelf labels and screens have to stay in step
  • On-premise installation or central monitoring is required
Capability table

What to compare between systems

CapabilityBasic signage softwareConnected system (KONEKT)
Content upload and scheduling

Managing several branches from one panel
Check whether chain-wide and branch content are separated.
Price and promotion sync from ERP / POS
KONEKT integrates with Comax, Hashavshevet, SAP, Priority and POS systems.

Relevant for chains with internal security policies.
Remote monitoring and fault alerts
Ask whether you're alerted to a dead screen before customers see it.

Especially important for branch teams.

This comparison describes two general categories of system, based on what we see in our own projects. It doesn't refer to any specific vendor — every system has its own capabilities, so ask the questions above directly.

FAQ

Choosing a digital signage system — FAQ

Signage software manages what appears on screen: files, templates and schedules. A connected system adds a data layer — it pulls prices, stock and promotions from your business systems and updates screens and labels automatically. The difference shows up most with many products, frequent price changes or many branches.
